DON MARIO

Restaurante Don Mario

This is one of the five most traditional gastronomic places in Mendoza. To go implies much more than simply to share a good asado among friends, it is a place where the history of the province manifests itself in a spontaneous manner. It is located in front of the monument of the condor upon entering the province, who serves as the host to their visitors. Don Mario is one of the most visited restaurants by the local Mendocinians. Its history tells the story of Don Mario Ferrari, owner of the restaurant who inherited the space from his Italian parents because of his love for the kitchen and his dedication to gastronomy, which he explored as a young boy working in restaurants and visiting different parts of the country.

He settled in Mendoza in 1953 now with a great knowledge of food, thus opening the “parrillada” – Don Mario. In reality, Don Mario is much more than a “parrillada,” it has a beautifully equipped kitchen and a menu with elaborate dishes and other concoctions – including breaded pork with glazed apples, beef stroganoff with asparagus and sautéed artichokes, and provincial sweetbreads with Spanish potatoes are just a few options. When the Palmares Open Mall opened its first restaurant, Don Mario reinvented a new local image, fresh and distinguished, but without losing their traditional feel of the “parrillada.”
